This academic newsletter which often contains info about what Polish minister of science and education is up to is a gift that keeps on giving. (If you count laughing through tears as a joy and not shocked despair, for that matter).

This guy. He was a minister of health during COVID. There are controversies and rumours regarding his engagement in the ministry buying life-support machines for a huge amount of money (both per one machine and in total, which was counted in MILLIONS)... which were rumoured to be sold by an arms dealer... and which were never delivered, as far as I'm aware!

There were also rumours regarding his nepotism regarding his brother. All of a sudden, he quietly disappeared from public view when it all came up, to return to his daily stuff and being a doctor.

So I have the question: what is the guy's honourable input on Polish science? And who tf nominated him to get this award?

... Is it related to financial compensation?

// I don't really have the resources to fact-check everything and to be more concrete about this (other than saying 'there were rumours, I don't know the sources or proofs'), and possibly no one else even expects anything else from the minister other than changing the rules so he can give $ to his associates while playing by the rules... but this is absurd.

(Maybe I should unsubscribe, they probably add news about him almost-daily because it generates clicks... and the few interesting information about actual science or research results may not be worth it).
